【講義概要】
The course is designed to encourage critical thinking among students, keep them engaged in extensive discussion about diverse, interesting issues. Each unit covers two sets of discussion issues, an audio clip, reading comprehension activities reinforced with writing exercise and has an online study center for more individual practice and self-tests. The volume of materials and design allow for flexibility. It is a four-skills language course and task-based ensuring each student’s progress is monitored.
This course uses English only as medium of instruction.

1.To introduce students to relevant issues, enable them to discuss, engage by giving opinions, and develop critical thinking.
2.To exercise and enhance their speaking skills in cohesion with the three other language skills.
3.To equip students with the ability to speak confidently.
【履修上の注意】
This is an oral communication course, so all students must all be prepared to speak English as much as possible in class. You will be assessed every week on your classroom participation, performance and speaking skills. In the event of online (non-face-to-face) classes, lessons will be conducted using a combination of software, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
【事前準備学習】
The focus is on fluency and comprehensibility, rather than accuracy, so effort is one of the most important factors of success in this course. Of course, students are all expected to complete homework assignments on time, as they play a large role in the classwork activities.
