【講義概要】

This course will continue to develop effective English oral communication competency and speaking fluency. Through various student-centered activities and meaningful contexts, students will gain confidence to use language communicatively. Students play an active role to what is learned and how it is learned. In the student-centered speaking class, students do the talking in small groups or pair work offering opinions, explanations as well as sharing viewpoints and experiences. Students will gain insights into various topics and world cultures through an array of interesting and provocative topics explored to promote critical thinking and lively discussions.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: For each Unit's topic

Note: This course uses English only as medium of instruction.

By the end of the course, students will be able to have simple conversations with confidence.



【履修上の注意】

Please bring all relevant study materials to class. There will be homework and preparation from the classes . The course is a student centered communication course with students actively discussing and conversing in pairs or small groups so a high degree of participation will be needed and an effort to stay in English and on topic. For online lessons ,we will use teams- here is the code: tvfr123



【事前準備学習】

Students will prepare, practice and deliver short speeches on a variety of topics and use them as a basis to have conversations. At the beginning of the course I will suggest topics for the students but latterly the students will have to think of their own topics.

【評価方法】

Weekly Class discussion: 60% (Includes pre-answered discussion tasks assigned to students)

Speaking/Writing Quiz: 40%
