【講義概要】
Allied with English 201, this course further develops speaking and listening skills at an intermediate-college level needed for functional everyday use.
Students will enhance their fluency and accuracy for effective communication and interaction using English. Listening practice includes a range of skills from identifying key words and expressions, apprehending the overall message, and inferring attitude or reason. And within similar contexts as that practiced for listening, students advance their skill for extending conversation, expressing ideas and opinions, making effective presentations, and so on.
【学習到達目標】
Students are expected to more fully (1) understand extended speech and lectures; (2) follow the chains of thought for a perspective or theme in exposition; (3) understand broadcast news; (4) take an active part in discussion in familiar contexts.
【履修上の注意】
Students need to attend all classes and are responsible for assignments as there is no late work accepted.
For the second semester, class is taught in English mostly. More discussion activities will be undertaken to encourage students ample time to think thoroughly and speak their minds.
Note: This course uses English only as medium of instruction.
【事前準備学習】
Students will prepare for discussion, hence it is necessary to pre-answer (as homework) the discussion warm up tasks and answer the vocabulary for each unit.
