講義概要

Focused on speaking and listening skills at an intermediate-college level, this course develops speaking and listening skills needed for functional everyday use. Students will enhance their fluency and accuracy for effective communication and interaction using English. Listening practice includes a range of skills from identifying key words and expressions, apprehending the overall message, and inferring attitude or reason. And within similar contexts as that practiced for listening, students advance their skill for extending conversation, expressing ideas and opinions, making effective presentations, and so on.

【学習到達目標】

Students are expected to more fully (1) understand generally clear standard speech; (2) grasp the main point of broadcast news or similar programs ; (3) enter unprepared into social conversation but participate; (4) connect phrases in speech meaningfully

履修上の注意

In-class tasks must be completed with the maximum use of the target language, although a bi-lingual dictionary will be required for quick reference. Attentive monitoring by the teacher will ensure that any major problems will be noted, reviewed and solved, but students must be confident to ask for help whenever they need it.

【事前準備学習】

Pre-class preparation and post-class review is a responsibility students must undertake in order to consolidate class activities and language-input effectively. The course book must be taken to every class.
